Vlaams Havendebat 2022

On December 13, the Vlaams Havendebat will take place in Bluepoint business and conference centre in Antwerp. Vlaams Havendebat is organized by Flows/Promedia. Together with well-known names from the logistics and port sector, the organization will take a look at the current situation and the possibilities of tomorrow. UTURN is also represented during the panel discussion ,Daan Meboer CEO of UTURN, give his vision on the statement “Digitization: Want but can’t? Or can’t want to?”.

We live in a time in which conflicts and negative market conditions follow each other in rapid succession. For example the pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, inflation and security of supply. These circumstances create uncertainty and make it difficult to make long-term plans. Fernand Huts already stated in a recent interview that we can only think a few months ahead in our sector, while a long-term strategy is more than necessary, such as when building infrastructures. During the Vlaams Havendebat, we will take time to reflect. Challenges will be identified and reliable answers and innovative insights will be provided.

Simplify digitization

In these challenging circumstances we are dealing with, companies also have to make a move towards digitization. Many companies see digitization as a necessity and as a burden. Large projects that overrun their
estimates and go far over budget. Whether it is via the waterfall method or via SCRUM and short deliveries of sprints. For the average shipper and carrier, this is a straight-up headache, which means that the much-needed digitization step is postponed even longer.

UTURN likes to show these entrepreneurs that things can be done differently. No development costs but direct cooperation with thousands of carriers and hundreds of shippers throughout Europe. The platform enables shippers to have real-time insight into ETAs, the location of their container and which carrier will transport the container. Shippers can collaborate with their own carriers via MyCarrier, but also have direct access to more than 2500 affiliated carriers. UTURN is free for carriers, shippers pay a small fee.
